Another 1,000km weekend over 3 days. 8 of us converged on Ohakune for two nights of socialising and a day ride out together on the middle day. We were much luckier with the weather than our very wet month of rides in June last year! Amazing to see the damage from significant storms and flooding across the lower / central North Island. Out west of Hunterville, that road wouldn’t have been passable for several days /weeks due to massive floods, it was pretty slimy for us. Ohakune is starting to come back alive as a town. The Blind Finch Hamburgeria/craft beer/gin bar definitely got our thumbs up and The Cyprus Tree delivered an outstanding meal last night as they always do. Both places are highly recommended by us!
